I'm light-hearted historical author Emily Bryan's serious alter-ego. My stories are set in the Dark Ages, the 9th and 11th centuries. My heroes are brawny Northmen, my heroines strong women who are more than their match.<br /><br />I like to write action and adventure, maybe a little mystery into my romances. I'm fascinated by how people in other cultures, other time periods thought about themselves and their place in the world. <br /><br />The Norse culture had a written language. Their mythology rivals the Greco-Roman system of gods and heroes. They pushed the boundaries of the known world, developing a technologically advanced style of ship that allowed them to sail the North Atlantic, the rivers of Europe and the waters of the Mediterranean. When the rest of Europe was bathing once a year whether they needed it or not, Northmen were inventing the sauna.
